Re: GKPE 8, Yet more NZ ramblings from some flightless Kiwis.

yep - these are the same media that stole some photo's from Guy Boyland's Facebook page, didn't check who was in the photo's, and then printed them as being Guy Boyland (who was killed in Gaza...

Re: GKPE 8, Yet more NZ ramblings from some flightless Kiwis.

some interesting discussion going on about Geoff Walker's photos of the Carterton Hot Air Balloon crash, seems some of the families of the victims want them released to the public, whereas Mr Walker...

Re: Whats so special about mirrorless bodies?

heres a thought - would mirrorless cameras get less dust on their sensors because they don't have a mirror flapping the air all around?

Or would they get more dust because they have less protection...

Re: Stuck shutter on T1i

this does not really make much sense, the shutter is behind the mirror, so isn't ever going to be covering it. From your description I'd suggest checking how well charged the battery was before doing...

Re: GKPE 8, Yet more NZ ramblings from some flightless Kiwis.

from 17-40mm User manual:
Since the front element of the lens moves when focusing (zooming), you need to attach a Canon PROTECT filter sold separately for adequate dust- and water-resistant...

Re: ef 1.4 iii extender

I've used a MK II on the odd occasion, while it's better than nothing I wouldn't rave about it...

690839

it does get a lot more use on my 70-200mm though.

Re: GKPE 8, Yet more NZ ramblings from some flightless Kiwis.

so what happens when you tell them to join the far queue? can they actually prove where the damage came from?

On the filter debate, I've always thought the images coming from my 16-35mm were better...

Re: How soon mirrorless will replace DSLR for Pros?

certainly agree about weight! :) just don't think it would be the driving concern unless the output is similar, and I'm not convinced that Canon at least has a product yet that achieves this.

Re: How soon mirrorless will replace DSLR for Pros?

I don't think so, at least not on the basis of size. Professionals only care about output - size of equipment doesn't come into it.

Re: Recompose question

given likely distance between subject & camera, using centre AF point then recompose would be my choice (quicker than fiddling with AF point, at least it would be if it were me)

Re: Help!: 300w light with 220v power cord and bulb in 110v outlet

If it's purely a filament bulb then it would likely work, but I'd say don't do it - primarily because the cabling & any switches for the original would only need to be rated to carry 1.36 amps,...
