I still think it is as RRS and Markins still havent come out with a better head thats any smaller, cheaper or stronger. The legs on the other hand have all changed quite a bit.

Sure can, I have an SSD in mine. No speed benefit and its hard to tell if there is a battery life increase, but yes no worries about physical shock.

Wireless in that price range will be terrible, so either a small digital recorder with a wired lav on the subject or something like the Shure SM93 and a long XLR cable to a more proper recorder.

Replacement for the Epson? Def the HyperSpace ColorSpace UDMA. Great unit and the best option IMO of its type.

Wow, never seen that one before. Must be a newer model. Rode usually makes pretty decent products for the price, the Rode VideoMic was the "standard" for a long time. No idea on this one though.

Pixel Stick looks pretty darn cool, but I wouldnt buy that thing until it had been out for a while and had some time to prove its a good product and can do what is claimed it can do without issues....
