When the 1D Mark III came out, there was one feature that it did not have that I had been asking for since the MkII and 20D were released.
Among other features, I had been asking for the 20D's "eraser head" multi controller to select AF points.

When the MkIII was released, it had the multi controller, but no option to use it to select AF points.
Canon had felt that users used the multi controller for other things, and that using it for the AF points on the MkIII would be too difficult to master so they omitted it.
There was no huge uproar or petition,. but I can tell you with 100% certainty that the firmware that was released that allowed us to use the Multicontroller to select AF points was a
DIRECT RESULT OF ACTIONS AND COMMUNICATIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THIS FORUM AND OTHERS.
Poo poo this thread all you want, I can assure you that Canon listens, and I have personally been directly involved in such requests being fulfilled.
