Default Womens Soccer... A little goalie action

Okay - I am finally starting to feel a little more comfortable with this sport thanks to some very good coaching I have been getting here. Attached are six images, and please, please let me know how I can take these and my shooting to the next level.... Cheers!

Last two... and yes, I know the first one is all backs... but I still liked it.

I like #1 and 3 best. I am a fan of soccer (futbol- for the non americans). I just wish I was into photography back when my girlfreind played soccer for the University we attended.

Were you shooting for Dukes team?

Im pretty sure these are straight from the camera, very little processing. For what use with they be for? #3 is the strongest with the peak action, but a little congested and the Bokah on the background player seems distracting, but I would just photoshop #19 right out for the final output.

Good bunch of pics again. #1 does it for me. Just crop it a bit tighter.

The other shots all have merit. Comments as follows:

#2 It's a shame that the backs of the two players dominate the pic... but not much you can do about that
#3 Good capture. If the 'keeper was the star of the show, then that's a good newsworthy shot
#4 No ball. I don't think it works without a ball
#5 Backs
#6 Nice tight action. Just wish the ball was in there somewhere!

Gavin - got to the field late... the first image here came as in the first 5 minutes... and I was tempted to just pack it up because I knew I had the shot I needed. But I stayed to do some more learning. These girls were amazing.. awswome match. The other shooter I was there with... we kept asking each other if we had just got the shot... only to both admit we were caught watching the match. This one girl did the cart-wheeling jumpie circle thing... don't know how to descibe it.. and of cours I dont have a shot of it.

Curtis.... Do it. It is 90 minutes of great shooting.. hardly a dull moment. It is a sport in my opinion that TV does not do justice to - at least at this level. Shoot college\university games, access is excellent and the level of play is great.

Eric - I freelance these games and the shots get used a whole lot of different ways... and I am still in learning mode so I don't turn down any opportunities to shoot. Each time I learn something new.

Quasi and Photosguy.... thanks for looking and the comments!

Great pics. #1 is may pick of the day. Gotta agree that the missing ball lessens the impact in the photos... but that's just me.

Cheers!

# 1 is stellar, very nicely done. But I do have an important question - did the keeper make the stop?

johndy - Yes she did... she was very impressive! Unfortunately she was playing for the other team. It was a battle of defenses that was quit intense - and very physical...

dgcorner - agreed on the ball there is preferable. The last three break all kinds of rules for submission. 4 and 5 would never be included.. but I liked them. Shots like No. 6 actually get picked up for things like the web site farely often when highlighting a player, they kinda like to show intense faces and care less about the action. Hey - I am just happy when they are tight enough and in focus... slowly working on getting the content right. I will post a link to the other shots tommorow... if you all care to see them. Cheers.

Bicycle kick I think, not a big fan of soccer but maybe I should go out and photograph it some day heh. What kind of gear did you use to take these shots?
