I run it in Crossover (http://www.codeweavers.com/products/) and it works relatively well on a Mac.

Another way around it, is to use bootcamp and run windows on your Mac for this occasion. There are virtual OS emulators like Parallels to run a virtual copy of windows, also runs at natives speeds so it's very hard to tell it's a virtualization.

A little late to the game, but I am running DSS in a Virtual Machine (vm) using VirtualBox. I have Mountain Lion as my Host with Windows 7 as my Guest OS.
The only problem I ran into is if you leave the images in a folder that is shared between the Guest and Host it's a bit of a no go. You need to move the images into a folder within the Guest OS, and then do the stacking/merging from there. Once I found that out, I was actually getting TIF output files I could open

Anyone ever try Keith's Image Stacker for the mac? I would like to get into astro photography, but not having the software to stack the images is holding me back. The Astro tracker is looking rather nice for my needs.

Haven't seen it before, but I'll try pulling down KIS this evening/weekend and playing with it on my Mac.
Thanks for the suggestion AbPho.

Awesome. Let me know how it turns out.
I just got an equatorial mount. I want to see how I can use this with my camera to get some longer exposures without star trails. Nothing fancy like taking stacks for deep space objects. Maybe one day. |

First impressions, Keiths Image Stacker doesn't read RAW image files, so I need to convert the cr2's to something like tiff or jpeg. I haven't done that yet, and I did find a section on his site where he lays that out. I guess it's time to convert and give it a go.
Thanks for the heads up on StarStaX too. I'll give it a check out as well. Anything's got to be better than the weird workflow for DSS through a VM.
