Welcome to the forum!
Cute cat! And a cute boy, but it looks like you cut off his head and he doesn't seem to happy about it! Where's his body?

thanks for the comments , i was just trying the lens on full zoom , was testing it against the tamron at 300mm , and the cannon gets a lot closer.

The cat picture is wonderful. Very nice job. I' d back off a little on the kid picture though. Your exposure looks good in both.

Not bad for a cat picture...
As to your comment about getting closer, any 300 mm lens should generate the same image size on the sensor at an equivalent setting. One might be clearer, but not closer. |

hi ,
no the canon 300mm was actually closer than the tamron 300mm , i took both from same position. the 2 pics below where taken at the same position at 300mm i also took pics at 70mm and 100mm and 200mm and all on the canon lens are closer.i did have a sigma lens 70-300mm and sold it to get the tamron 28-300mm and the first thing i noticed was that the pics were actually smaller from the tamron. i will do another test tomorrow. dave tamron 300mm.jpg neil.jpg

Now that is something! I have been shooting pictures for nearly 50 years and never would have thought that the same focal length from two manufacturers would produce drastically different images. Of course I've never owned anything but Canon lenses (well there were those two things from Korea I owned for 2 days but that's another sad story). I just bought a Tamron 28-75 f2.8 and will have to play with it and my Canon lenses. Very interesting.
Of course, my sig line says what it does for a reason. Last edited by Titus213 : 16th of January 2006 (Mon) at 20:00. |
