This is my first shot of a helicopter. I just got my 20D and am just learning how to set the thing up. PLEASE give me some suggestions to make these types of shots sharper and with better color. I would love them to come out like those F16's in the other thread.
Shot with: Sigma 70-300mm f1:4/5.6 TV mode Iso 320? AWB AI Servo Not Sure about aperture Thanks! ![]()

OK....my first quick observation.............
Your first pic is a .gif file ? Would explain all the colour noise and low quality. Why have you converted it to that... Did you shoot in jpeg or RAW?

yeah, I noticed it after I saved it. I shot in jpeg and when I "saved for web" in PS I didn't change it to .gif

I really like that last one. Good composition and I like the light reflecting off the windows. One suggestion, use a little slower shutter speed so you get some blurring of the rotors. It looks unantual with them "not moving".
Be safe out there.

hmm, i never "save for the web" on any of my shots, I just go to "save as" and save them in "8" quality mode. they come up as 100-140 kbs

Hi Killroy
Really nice lighting on the last pic.Try dropping the shutter speed down to below 1/160sec.Here is an example of the effect. 1/160 sec ![]() Cheers Gary |

Wait, all that time and all I get is "Cream of the Damn Crop" ?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
|
Great stuff Killroy
I think Andy is on to something with the ISO.. there is no 320 setting on the 20D.. and 3200 is the highest (noisiest) setting. Try using ISO 400 for starters... Whaen using save for web.. you have a few choices availble,. use jpeg reduce size to no larger than 800 pixels on the longest side, and I use "70" but you could use 60 or 80 as well for "quality". |
