Cool shot...are you allowed to post process this as much as you want? If so, I'd see if I could make the entire pic B&W and keep the cheetah in color...might make for an interesting shot. Love his pose...he/she is just chillin.

Nice one.
What I would do would be to clone out the wall and maybe the fence on the background (if not, I would burn the highlight on the right of the cheetah).
Also, maybe you can lighten a slight little bit the face of the cheetah (but maybe it's my monitor).

good luck!

Don - I don't know how much pp can be done (I suspect there is no limit since entries are to be electronic). I like that idea of selective coloring, I will have to play around with that (I am not very knowledge in Photoshop yet).

T.O. - Having my limited knowledge of photoshop, how would I "burn" the highlight?

Yes clone out the cement area and the fence.
The eyes are in need of the dodge with highlight selected say 4% exposure mode.
I think someone said to colorize the face a little already as this would make the face pop out and I think this would make the image a lot better.

Great photo BTW keep up the great work.

I think brighten up the eyes would help.

My take...made a new layer and made it B&W. Selected the kitty and deleted him from the top layer, bringing forth the color version. I created a layer mask over the eyes and added more green, a darker pupil and small "light in the eye" effect on each eye - top left side. Then I added a photo filter to the B&W layer with a sephia color tone. Hope you like it.

Don - I really like that. I am going to have to play around and see what I can come up with.

You posted this same image on here a couple months ago asking the same thing, right? Either here or on dpreview.com I'll give my same comment again, the fence in the background kills the shot.

Hello again,

you already got more interesting comments here...if you finally keep the wall in the picture you can burn the highlight by using adjustments:shadows/highlights. Set highlight amount to 30, tonal width to 30 and radius to 60 as a starting point, and move the sliders to get the result you want. Play also with shadows, it will help you bring the emphasis to the animal's face...

regards,

Do I play with adjustments:shadows/highlights on the whole image or try to isolate the hotspot to the right?

I re-read the official rules:
"entrants are acknowledging that they have taken each
photograph entered, none of which have been digitally manipulated. Minor adjustments,
including spotting, dodging and burning, contrast and slight color adjustment or the digital
equivalents, are acceptable."
Does that mean I can not clone out the front fence? The original

If I'm not mistaken....that's a JAGUAR!!! My favourite cat and my favourite car. I love it just the way it is Scott...don't change a thing...except maybe use Photoshop's special effects to make him (her?) chrome....like this one....

thanks...I agree with the above regarding the fence...but my PP seems to get rid of the fence a little bit more.
