I like the style of these: the blown-out background helps emphasizes the subject. The second one held my attention because (from left to right) it goes gradually from bright to dark, and ends with the subject who is not only the darkest object, but also the only object in focus. Interesting style.

yeah it was a really hot day in L.A. and the sun was giving harsh broad lighting..luckily it worked for a cool effect in the shots..still learning the histogram on my Canon 20D
