I had a great time at the faire too. Nice to meet other POTNers. Hope to do this again!

Wow Harry, you've been holding out on us!
Great job panning on #2! In the first one, did you ask her to pose for you or was it purely candid? My anal-retentive side would like to see it straightened to line up the siding with the frame. The Monday-morning-quarterback in me says some fill flash might have helped (to bounce off the mirror and light up her face).

Thanks Curtis, The first one was candid - but she caught me. Had a nice smile! I'm a rookie at PP. I straightend the mirror. The siding was straight in the original! Flash is my weak point in photography. I really don't know anything about it. First I need to buy a flash - it's on my list - and a how to book. Study up for next year!

Big H, the only thing I'd say about the mirror image is the focus needs to be tight in the mirror and not on the girl... The eyes are drawn to her face, but it's blurred.
Nice photos. I really like the swing. Nice pan shot. Brice |

A good flash unit ain't cheap, but they're still cheaper than a really good lens. If you shoot people, a flash unit has a much greater potential to improve your images. There's a learning curve, but you're definitely ready to climb it.

Do a bit tighter crop in the second shot, the background is distracting.

I thought the background was key to #2. It gives the image motion which needs to be conveyed. How much tighter does it need to be?

I think it's a great shot. A great learning experience too. Doubt I would have done any better under the circumstances!

Great lighting in both pics, but the wonderful DOF, or was that motion blur... in the second makes it pop. I wish you'd caught her just a tad off to the right for a stronger balance and mood, but to be fair, it was an action shot and we takes what we can gets... right? Nice work, thanks or sharing.
