Default Do you Photograph your vacations or vacation to photograph?

Simple poll...

Do you photograph your vacations, or do you plan your vacations around places to photograph?

(Hope this makes sense...)

(Well...I did just get the 70-200mm 2.8 IS, so lets see that 99% go down)

I'm only 15, but my parents and I choose places to go based on how "photographic" they are.

It's also a good way to bribe me to go places I'd rather not.

I like to have pictures of the trip, and I like to go to noce places - it stands to reason I wouldn't go somewherte thinking it won't be worth taking pictures - but the desire to shoot is not the prime mover in my choices.

...I think

The photographic possibilities are always uppermost in my mind when I (we?) plan a holiday. Fortunately, the most interesting places to go on holiday are almost always the most photogenic.

I'm going to Chincoteague, VA. in to weeks. My wife is going to vacation. I'm going to photograph. She doesn't know it yet, but I'm also getting the 100-400L for this trip

I start studying the place about as soon as we decide we're interested so I have an idea what to look for. So, yeah, I go on vacation to photograph, not the other way 'round.

As of late all our vacations, and even weekend outings, are centered around photogrphy.

I'm off on an Alaskan cruise this summer that has a workshop led by Moose Petersen this summer. I wouldn't have chosen this if there weren't the group of photographers going. I always go based on what there is to shoot.

I photograph my vacations. I am broke and rarely get to take one, so I make do with where we go. There is always something to take pictures of. Maybe one day when I am done with school it will be the other way around.

What's a vacation? I work four jobs, three of which pertain to photography. I do take short day trips a couple of times a year to shoot macros at an area butterfly conservatory, though. The remainder of my shooting is for pay.

We travel 4-6 weeks a year. My wife has accepted the fact that 25 pounds of camera gear goes too.

Excellent poll. I have never really thought about this but yes I do chose my holiday destinations based on what I want to photograph, unless I am going somewhere to dive.

I definately think about the photographs I will take when on holiday

We recently travelled the Great Ocean Road and all I could think of when planning was the stops for taking scenic shots
