Default Filter Book

I bought " The Photographer's guide to Filters " by Lee Frost .
The book is OK , but doesn't say much about Digital . It's for film cameras and was first printed in 1988 . Has very basic info on filters .
The book is 144 pages , mostly 2 pictures of same shot [ almost all different pictures ] - probably 85-to 90% of book is pictures with a little bit of writing to explain .
Not enough Don't do this or If you do this , this happens .
A few things about digital have been added BUT nothing really useful . I got latest edition 2006 .
Good bathroom or Airplane but NOT a reference book you will be looking up stuff in .
If anyone has a good book on Filters , please post it's tittle .

to be honest, books on filters may not be commonplace anymore. With the popularity of digital these days, 90% of filters aren't needed in the same way as when you had film. Photoshop and white balance adjustment has replaced the need for most colored filters (I'm sure others will disagree) but a lot of the use of colored filters was to counteract weird colored lighting or while shooting black and white to bring out certain colors. this can be done in photoshop easier and more cheaply than buying all those colors of filters.

In my opinion, the only filters you need to worry about nowadays (for general photography) are: circular polarizers, neutral density filters, graduated neutral density filters, and possibly a UV filter (depending on whether or not you believe in using one for protection of the lens, but lets save that discussion for another thread). throw in a starlight filter if you want to get crazy (or cheesy).

with so few filters, it might be a short book.

Maybe you'd have better luck jus searching forums...with the added advantage of being able to ask the "author" questions...something no book allows.
