Ok, so both of them are F2.8's. The Tammy reaches futher, but isn't as wide (barely).
Which one would users here prefer? I'm thinking about switching to the Sigma, I like the Tammy and its a great walk around lens, I just wish it were a little bit wider.

I've used and tested all these lenses (2875, 2460, 2470, 2870) and various copies at that. Optically they really are on the same page (i.e., none blows another out of the water). There are copy to copy differences but they are slight even at that. The 2460 is nice because it's much smaller than the 2470 lenses (Sigma and Canon) but you retain the 24mm wide. It also remains a 77mm filter thread while the Sigma 2470 is 82mm. The Tamron might be the best optically, but it's still real close.
Reviews of the 2460 are favorable, usually rated higher overall than all the others. But it is also the least popular, for whatever reason. Here are some relevant links and reviews... I think there is a bigger difference between 24 and 28 than there is between 60 and 75 - not in numerical terms [obviously] but photographically.
I'd go for the Sigma but, then again, I'm a WA fool

I stressed over which lens in this range to buy for a bit over a month. Ultimately I ordered the Tamron 28-75 yesterday. From all I have read, and all the pics I have seen, it just looked like the best fit for me. The 24-28 is probably more of a difference than the 60-75, but I find that I tend to shoot longer and the extra reach was really desired. Most of the wider stuff I noticed I was shooting tended to be landscape or big group shots, and those tended to be stopped down anyway, so I could use the kit lens to cover the stuff below 28. Also, I liked the colors a bit better on the Tamron, and in most of the backlit shots I saw (yes, sometimes you just need to take the shot with the sun behind your subject), the Tamron seemed to handle CA noticeably better. The only real advantage I saw to the Sigma was in build quality, and the Tamron is not flimsy. In the hundreds of posts I read, and the hundreds of pics I saw, a good copy of the Tamron (and most were good copies) were favorably compared to the Canon 24-70. Very few people even tried to compare the Sigma to the Canon.
