Default When should canon announce there next camera "50D" ?
I curently have a rebel XTi and im planning on getting a new camera after summer, but if a 50D comes out i'd rather get that camera...

if it does come out how much should the price be?

a 50D will not be out for a VERY long time (probably about 18 months) since the 40D is very new.

Canon have, so far, a regular 18 month update cycle on the xxxD and xxD range. 40D was out in Photokina 2007, so 50D at PMA 2009. 450D PMA 2008, 500D at Photokina 2009.

I'm not sure if this will stretch out if they start running low on new features to add...

I think it will be called 5D MKII,in 3 years the 40D will be 50D

These are not rumours, they are wild speculation and at best, guesswork

People get so wrapped up in this stuff. Yes a new 5D would be nice but oh well, it isnt here yet.

Enjoy the proven and tested 5D. It's a beautiful camera.

I see a 45D before the end of the year. A better LCD and 12mp. Simple and cheap additions for Canon that will spark sales mid-model.

I think that is a possibility. Wouldnt it be nice to custom order the option we really want I want a drop in slide holder for shooting positives from time too time

Yep, the 40D might (hopefully) suffer the same fate as the Canon D60 which was quickly replaced in 12 months in order to keep up with the D100.
As for a 45D my wish list would be : VGA LCD, ISO6400 at least 15-21AF points and 12MP.

Dragos, if you aren't capable of taking stunning images with a 40D, you're far beyond the help its replacement might provide.
