Default Cobra ERA Replicar 427

Bill's all aluminum '66 AC Cobra ERA Replicar looks very businesslike & it should. It does 9.80 @ 146mph in the quarter mile.

It has a Cobra Shelby aluminum 427cid motor putting out 613bhp using a NASCAR two 4-barrel tunnel port intake. Transmission is a manual C6 pushing a Jaguar 4.10 rear end.

He's had it since '81, built it himself, & drives it 4,000 miles a year.

Did you notice the original factory Halibrand knock-off wheels?

Nice walkaround Frank...

Got a little black balance funkiness in the tire/wheel close up...looks a tad blue.

The few times I've worked Barrett Jackson in Scottsdale, the Cobras always turn heads be they real or real close.

Yes, it slipped by me. It's nice to know that someone else here is color managed, though.

Decades ago I remember Dan Gurney & two other guys racing under the same handkerchief (really close together), & it was great! Shelby had a great idea! "Real" or not, it's all about attitude, isn't it?

Thanks for the comment, Jay!

Great car and shots with an owner that actually has some fun with it.

Everytime I go to the drags here they have a ton of mustangs in the lot waiting there turn at Shelby for their transformation.

I'm more interested in that Charger 500 (brown) in the background, on the first pic!

Nice car but I am pretty sure it has a fiberglass body. Nothing wrong with that, just correcting you note.

I like the photos and love the plate!

Nice shots.

For a 40+ year old design, that is still a tough looking ride!

According to ERA's website:

"E.R.A. uses aluminum floor, side fillers and rear bulkhead panels that attach directly to the chassis like the original roadster."

http://erareplicas.com/427/bodystru.htm

Very nice shots of a very nicely done car. I've been kicking myself ever since the early '70.s' When I was in San Diego (Miramar) I could have bought a legit Cobra--there were no replicas back then--for a very good price. I decided "it wasn't practical" I either would have become a millionare or died in the damn thing

If I ever win the lottery.........

I agree that this is a very nice car and wicked fast, the owner should be proud. The aluminum panels are beautiful but the BODY is fiberglass. Once again, please understand that I am not putting it down but just trying to set the facts straight. I used to own a fiberglassed body replica that was no where near as nice as this one.

Yes, I was attempting to do just that. I didn't read my own quote, which I had read earlier --referenced the glass body.

Many years ago, when I went to one of the Mopar Nationals, either at Indy or near Columbus, someone had a very nice Cobra with a 440 sixpack installed. I realize the Fraud Fanatics will frown, but I got a kick out of it.

440/six pack...cool! I have seen them with Ford "camers", Chevy engines, Viper engines, etc and they are all neat. If someone is building themselves a car they should build what THEY like. If its to approximate an original then great if not then that's great too!

Who could not like that car?? My dream car. There is something about those tires though that doesn't sit well, I can't put my finger on it.

Nice pics too. I really need to go hang out with you one day to see how you get those nice pictures.

I'd love to take that car for a spin, always loved the Cobras even the replicas.

Number 2 would be good if he would have removed his hat, might help his score in the show too lol.

I don't remember shooting that one. A Charger search should bring it up if I did.

I write what they tell me, so I have to disagree. Did you look at the link to the trunk shot?

They look better if you can get back & use a tele. A WA distorts too much.

Evenings are best. PM me next year.

Me, too! Who really cares if it's a copy? That's the only way most could afford one & I don't think the performance would suffer.

Thanks for the comments!

Nice shots as always, Frank. #2 made me chuckle - a 9.86 Cobra replica with a handicap sticker!
