I tried to get some shots of my husbands guitar for him. I wanted some creative shots and different angles but not sure if these work or not. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Interesting PP on these shots.
I wouldn't of put a guitar like that outside, but it seems to have worked in these shots. I think shot one looks a bit odd because it looks elongated from the high angle you were shooting from. Shot two it is cut off, and it doesn't look "right". I like the PP on three, but once again, cut off. Four is pretty neat, but electric guitar and cowboy boots... Not a usual combination? But still cool

The first two are okay, the last are photoshop illustrations rather than photos. It would be nice to see the guitar in a still life with things you would associate with it, instead of sort of isolated out in the world. Nice guitar.

I agree with the reply about being outside. How about one with the guitar in colour and grass in bw? I like a couple of them nice and quircky.

Thanks for the comments. Ive seen a lot of photos lately on guitar sites with much more expensive guitars propped up outside on different things. I do want to get some more natural type shots to though, maybe some in its case or standing propped in its case with his amp and stuff like that. Any ideas for that would be great too!

I agree with the folks who say it should be propped up - do you not have a guitar stand? That'd be ideal for a "portrait" type photo of the guitar, but I very much like the idea of more natural shots. The guitar case sounds kinda cool - but also think about where a guitar might live when the guitarist is taking a break from playing it. Can't think of examples. Depending on the guitarist's lifestyle, I kinda like the idea of the guitar in a stand on a stage with a beer sitting nearby and maybe some picks or pedals or something like that. You'll know it when you see it.
And a big fooey on the notion of guitars and cowboy boots not going together. I think I like that one the best, but maybe with the cowboy boots being even more visible Last edited by pkwilliams : 18th of August 2009 (Tue) at 12:32. Reason: because I'm an idiot |
