Default Sunflowers

I am trying to get a few things printed and get them on the walls at home.

I like these sunflower photos. Most folks seem to like the closeup while I like the flowers in the barrel.

Playing with photoshop I tried combining them.

Any thoughts? I'd print this 10x14 or a bit larger.

Tom: If you're still looking for comments, here are mine. As for the close-up, I think the composition could use some work. There are several flowers there but no single one provides a point for the eye to focus on. Nor does it appear your camera was focusing on any particular point either. It kind of makes the eyes work too hard to find out what the photo is about. And I think the blown-out white background is a bit distracting and takes away from the vibrant yellows of the flowers. As for the ones in the bucket, a lot of the color and detail is hidden in shadow and, again, there's not much of a central point of focus. I would suggest shooting some more sunflowers. I'm by no means a pro, but those are my comments for what they're worth. And since you hadn't received any, I thought you were owed some. Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Thanks for your comments. I have to agree as the photos have been literally unremarkable. I do see what you mean about a subject in the first photo and I'll try to remember that the next time I take this type of picture.

Glad you took my comments constructively. If you're looking for a new perspective on a sunflower, you can try focusing on the patterns in the middle and using the colorful pedals as a frame. Something like this:

Thanks for the suggestion and I like the photo but I was looking for the arrangement. I'll take your suggestion and try for a picture of a sunflower in an arrangement of sunflowers then next time I get a chance.

I don't post photos on POTN often enough but I would be a better photographer it I did and learned from others comments.
