I am looking at this because it is such a cheaper option:
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product...82E16820208529 Anyone have any experience using that card for the 7d? How long does it take to clear a full buffer? I've heard something about the 16gb not really being 400x but that the 32gb actually is much closer to 400x... Anyone? Need some feedback! Price is so tempting!

I really like all the Transcend 400X cards I have tried. I have the 16GB version and it is rather fast, I am not sure how fast "true" 400x is, but it is certainly faster than my Sandisk 8GB Ultras.
With the 16GB 400x Transcend card I can essentially indefinitely shoot the largest resolution jpeg without any noticeable slowdown. (never really tried past 5-6 seconds tho, no real need to)

Same here. Using the Transcend 16gb 400x on a 7D. No issues so far.

They are amazing deal, especially compaired to the competion.
Yes, the 32G and 64G cards are faster than the 8/16G cards. the 32/64G are rated 90MB/s read 60MB/s write, and the 8/16G cards are rate 60MB/s read and 30MB/s write. I use 5 of the 64G 400X cards in my 7D, and love them. --Evan

I have an older 133x 32GB and it has never failed me in my 5DMarkII.
Does anyone see any benefit in the 600x over the 400X? I dont expect to see anything in camera. Wondering if its worth the $15 premium on the 16GB cards. |

I got tired of packing laptops and Digital Wallets while on Vacation.
It's not hard to fill them all up in a 2 or 3 week vacation to someplace interesting, like Paris --Evan

I have used the Transcend 32GB 400X for six months on my 1D Mark IV and it works like a gem. It's fast, reliable and I've had absolutely no problems with it. The read and write speed of my card is as advertised.

So you eat up 320GB for harddrive space whenever you get back from vacation? Hot damn! lol

I am sorry, 48TB is not cheap... nor is 24GB of ECC ram... cheap compared to some camera gear I guess, lol
On a side note, aren't you afraid of failure? I am paranoid so I RAID everything I have, lol. It has already saved me data so it has been worth it. EDIT: How much is that rig costing you? $4000-$5000?

Under 4k. And yes I'm going to use RAID, hense the adaptec raid controller.
But for the average user, you can pick up a pair of 2TB drives for $50 each if you watch the sales, and almost every motherboard made today can do RAID 1 mirroring. And that can store a lot of picture for the average use for a very small investment. --Evan

Can anyone give their informed opinions of the 90mb/s CF cards?
I keep reading that the cards/cameras can't make use of the 90mb/s speed so it is really a bit of a gimmick. I too need to purchase some CF card(s) for my new 7D but don't want to get into overkill. I'll mainly be shooting raw.
