Default Want Canon Hi 8 camcorder with firewire 800 port

I want to digitize old Hi 8 tapes via a Canon Hi 8 camcorder. I would like to know 3 things:

1. What kind of computer connection ports did the Canon Hi 8 camcorders have? Did they have a firewire “800” port?

2. Where best to locate used Canon Hi 8 camcorders for sale?

3. Is there a better forum to post this on other than this one?

Please reply to jdort@san.rr.com. Thanks.

Well Hi-8 is an analog, not a digital, video signal; you'd need to run it through a converter like you would VHS to get digital output. And even if it were digital, it predates Firewire 800, so it wouldn't support that.
