Default Starting Macro … am I leaving anything out?

Here is what I am thinking of buying. I found a good used price for both the lens and tubes, so I would like to buy both and learn, and compare which I like better … and maybe use both together.

Should I get the regular softbox, or the mini? I think I am leaning towards the regular.

Is the Opteka sync cord ok? Or should I get a different one?

I just got my first flash, a 430ex ii.

Please let me know if I am leaving anything out... maybe a ballhead?

100mm 2.8 macro (non IS)
Kenko extension tube set
Manfrotto 330 bracket
LumiQuest ProMax Mini SoftBox or ProMax SoftBox
Opteka E-TTL / E-TTL II Off-Camera Flash Sync Cord

Thanks
