5D II on the way :)

oh, any Canon camera can be used as trading stock - old PnS, old film, ANY Canon brand camera body. Also, she offered me TWO cameras per my one trade, but I cannot afford it... FYI...

That would be nice...I know several lenses I wouldn't mind getting for 20% off...:D

My 5D2 got here today...looks new...when I checked the shutter count it said 192.

How do you check the shutter count?

I said that while on the phone with the woman "you know, you're the 8th person today to ask about that, I should suggest it to Canon..."

lol, that would be amazing.

My 30D croaked on me so I sent it in with expectations of a $200.00 repair estimate (seems average based on posts on here) and an offer under CLP. My wife and I talked about it and she suggested I consider the deal. This was before I had heard anything from Canon so I'm wondering, "What does she want?" :-)

Estimate for repair was $208.00. The hardest decision was 40D or 50D? Went with the 50D. $719.20 plus local sales tax, free shipping. I would have been out $208.00 no matter what (or give up photography) so I figure I picked up the 50D for $511.00 plus tax. If I had repaired the 30D I'm not sure shipping would have been free either.

I'm still a bit upset the 30D bit the dust but getting the 50D for that price and my wife's blessing to boot is a good deal. The CLP is great in my opinion.

My 5D MKii should be here tomorrow! I am so stoked to see it back in the CLP! Already ordered the bg-e6 grip and RRS L plate to go with it. Good times ahead!

Just checked and mine will be here monday and the 24-105 on tuesday. Wow what a week it will be. While on the phone i asked if they had the 24-105 refurbished and she said she thought she found it for $500 and I almost fell out of my chair. But after further review she realized it wasn't there and the price was wrong....oh well.

The Canon folks were very nice and knowledgeable thought.. a nice change from usual customer service.

I think I found this link on POTN here.

http://astrojargon.net/EOSInfo.aspx (external link)

That is the windows installer, if you use Mac, he has a different utility on the same site. Plug in the camera, start the software and it will pop up a window that shows a few pieces of info on the camera, shutter count being one of them. I had to power cycle the 5D2 to get it to show the information. But it worked.

They seem to take any Canon camera, film or otherwise. Not lenses though.

=)

Has anyone had experience with the loyalty program in Canada?

You might as well say there is no loyalty program in Canada. The person to complain to is Steve MacKay, Director of Canadian Customer Relations at Canon Canada. 905 795 2111 ext 3352.

The Canadian program gives you 10% off the MSRP from their web site. But everyone knows that you can buy well below that from any camera store. So if you camera breaks, you are better off to toss it into the garbage and go to a store and buy a new one rather than pay Canon to ship a camera that you could buy anywhere else for significantly less.

Yes another case of those of us not living in the USA getting the shaft

Matt.
