Default will there be new flashes soon??

Will Canon come out with newer flashes anytime soon? I see Nikon is developing a new flash but what about Canon? Is it time?

Nothing with the fact that I dont like it, I would just assume that Canon would be developing a new flash soon. since their last one came out in 2008 and its almost 2011

Well, Canon's recent patent for RF controlled flash units sure is tantalyzing:

I would think that a roadmap for Canon Speedlights utilizing 2.4GHz wireless would show up on the horizon pretty soon. All of the issues with IR and hopefully the noise problems with 433MHz triggers would get resolved. I would think that maintaining the current ETTL II interface would be fairly straight forward task given the right engineering resources. Currently the low end wireless is coming from China. I suspect Canon will come out with something that is fairly high end, and be much more than just a on off switch.

Somewhere I read that there was a 6xx series flash coming pretty soon. It was mostly just going to be more powerful but not make use of radio communications. I also saw the post re: their wireless patents and this is what I'm waiting for. The 580's do such a good job, it's hard to imagine why I'd upgrade without the advantage of radio.
