This isn't the first earthquake or tsunami to hit a huge population. Actually, search for ancient tsunamis in japan. Google natural disasters throughout history- there have been earthquakes that killed hundreds of thousands in the past.

Chill out with the 2012 stuff, at least here. I'm sure there's a forum for that as well ;).

Japan has been through a great deal in the past 66 yrs huh? I've got my theories as well, but what could you say, but pray for Japan..

I don't care the section or religious bent, my heart goes out to the people of Tohoku. I fear for many people among whom I once lived in Aomori-Ken.

We hold our L glass toward the light,
Digitizing in a snap reflective glory
That will forever tell our imaged story.

Whole areas are ruined. I'm feeling like we are all quite vulnerable right now, but good thoughts and prayers to all who are affected.

You got problems if lenses are what you care most about, due to a disaster or any other reason.

Wish everyone the best over there, can't imagine what they are going through right now.

A friend in Tokyo let me know she and her family are safe. It's a relief, but I still feel for the victims.

My wife has an uncle in Sendai. His house was shaking, and is a mess, but his family is OK. He works at a factory but apparently that was washed away with the Tsunami. I am sure he's just happy to be alive.

Everyone else is fine. Mostly in Tokyo and Osaka.
