Just picked up this lens from another member here, brand new. Not many interesting shots yet but I went down to the river to just test out the reach since I've only had the kit lens and a 50 1.8.

These were shot from Windsor just east of UofW campus. The buildings are in Detroit.

Any tips for what settings are sharpest? I shot these at f/8 I believe, but the lens was fully out to 250mm so probably sharper if backed off a little.

Thanks, Anne :). This lens really surprises me with nice sharpness and details (outstanding bokeh too). For the best result it needs some post processing to improve the colors and contrast, but I don't mind doing it.

I'm really enjoying the close-up capabilities of this lens and I'm thinking seriously about getting a set of Kenko extention tubes to narrow the focusing distance a bit.

Anybody here using [have used] Kenko tubes with the 55-250mm ?

Any good results?

Thanks :)

AWESOME shot.. Great colors

I have not used a Kenko tube, but have used a Raynox 150 macro lens and here is athe result

Whoa... seems like an upgrade from my 750-300 III (non usm, non is) to this lens is a no brainer.
I did start a thread asking about that, and most of what I got was "Buy 70-200 L". Yeah, i reckon the same, though we aren't all made equal when it comes to payroll and credit history :)

Awesome thread, keep on posting !!
