I have all my photos on an internal drive F. I am upgrading to a new internal drive that is currently sitting in an external case. I labeled this drive T. After my photo file transfer is complete, I intend to put the T DRIVE in my pc, remove The F: drive, then rename the t drive the f drive.
My question, is that all I need to do to resume business as usual for lightroom since the photo file on the f drive contained all my photos? Any other preparations I need to do for a smooth drive swap?

If the images are in exactly the same file structure (a mirror or what you have now) then you need do nothing - LR will just see them as it always has done.

thanks.
i've run into a new issue. the file i'm moving is large (640 gb). about a couple hours into the move it seems to just stall. nothing moving. is there a better way to move this file than copy and paste? is there software that helps manage large file transfers?

Fatal attraction.

Can't you move them in smaller pieces? For instance, if my setup is a master folder called PHOTOS with subfolders 2001, 2002, 2003, etc., I would create a PHOTOS folder on the new drive with the same path except for the drive letter and then move over each year separately.

I always move a few months worth at a time and have never had problems.
