They may introduce a smaller mount (43rds etc) or even a larger/MF mount.

Releasing a new series of supertele's at the same time as discontinuing the mount wouldnt work..

Well now Canonrumors.com says its definitely not the 5d III being announced, so.... more than likely we will see the 5d III announced.

I would so love for canon to take the opposite route and introduce a bigger body with an even bigger sensor, sort of like an SLR style MF body, but with state of the art AF and high ISO capabilities. But... not very likely.

Whatever they announce / introduce, I probably won't be able to afford it right now, so it better suck!

If we also look at Imagin8ion which is still related, although looking very cinematic. I would think that Canon is about to announce a Cinema camera that does stills as well. I think they have the ability to do 8k, but that's for later sales. They will introduce a 4K video camera with higher Mbps, Media outputs like XLR, etc and with Cinema controls. The only thing is will it have a PL mount, probably not since the whole point is selling EF lenses.

Just my 2 cents.

I was thinking the exact same thing. As for PL mount, why not? After all, they did announce a pair of 4K capable PL mount lenses in April of this year (http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/broadc...s/BCTV_NAB2011)

I addition, I'm also thinking maybe 3-D will be part of the upcoming November announcement.

As usual, engadget is clueless. Mirrorless? C'mon. That's not what you announce in Hollywood.

I'd not be surprised if it's the fabled EF mount video system, along with some EF mount primes and zooms (at least one zoom is mandatory) appropriate for manual focusing. All will be expensive compared even to L glass.

I think the answer is "nothing," current or likely future. The main "problems" with the EF mount for video are the lenses. The problem with the aperture closing down inappropriately could be solved a variety of ways: Perhaps it requires the lens to handle aperture change requests differently (i.e. move smoothly between apertures, instead of opening wide), maybe it requires the camera body to handle it differently, or (and this looks the most likely given it's been featured on Canon Rumors as a lens feature already) the return of the aperture ring, except a smoothly moving ring instead of the old type with detents we remember from film primes. It's possible they could meld some of these features, allowing automatic or manual aperture control (perhaps even remote aperture control, that could be nice to lighten the focus puller's load, maybe, maybe not) depending on how the EF system handles that.

I think the bottom line is that the EF system is just an electronic and mechanical interface; as long as the signalling pins send the correct info the camera body has a chance at identifying other functions.
