Default imposing test onto a picture

long story short...I had to put down one of my dogs this week. I am looking to print out a picture of her but want to but the dates of her life and name, along with a little poem.
How would I impose this on the picture?
Would it be the same as creating a copyright "stamp" or is there a better way?
thanks
