Has any one tried to attach a focus confirmation chips on this to make EF mount equal to that of Nikon?

^ i had attached a cheapo chip from ebay...the problem is, I cannot adjust the aperture in the cam. So, I intended to use it at 1.4.

The good thing is, I can now have a focus confirmation and it is really precise.

Thanks for the reply.

I got mine two days back and as expected I am missing that critical focus everytime even at infinity. I am also interested to utilize its wide open F because I go this lens only to be able to get it out at night in low light condition taking picture of subjects that move, so I prefer to use the lowest possible ISO, and do not want to step down on F just to add DOF.

I think I need the chips too. How difficult and then how solid was the installation. Also does it interferes with the infinity focus as it must have added a fraction of mm increase distance in physical length of lens. I see that my lens goes beyond the infinity so even a bit increase length should not cause a sever problem.

Also could you tell me how reliable is the focusing when you get that confirmation? Then what setting for focusing confirmation do you use? Is it Central red dot or does it make sense to use any other setting?

Just got this beauty today! It's little bit hard to get the focus right wide open, but its not impossible. Been practicing a bit and I think I'm nailing it soon :D Here are couple of photos that i took. All hand held, surprised how well they came out because it was pretty dark at the moment.

Is this normal that the flare is quite strong like in this photo?

I'm not an expert in optical performance stuff, but I've noticed also CA when shot wide open, is this normal amount?

yes. this lens shows pretty terrible flare when you point it at strong light sources.

The lens and its rebrands deserve a thread, but not with a crappy title like that.
