I'm thinking of getting either or both of the lenses. But I'm not sure if a mk II version is in the works?
Would anyone have heard of any rumours regarding this? If not, I'd just go ahead and make the purchases. Many thanks. |

Considering that the 17 TSE and 24 TSE II were given the independent tilt/shift axes, that is an upgrade that should be coming to the 45 and 90 TSEs in the future. When that will happen is still unknown though.

The Canon TS-E 90mm f/2.8 & Canon TS-E 45mm f/2.8 will both become L glass because Nikkor has gold ringed equivalents released in 2008. Will probably sell for more than $2000 each.
The upgrades will not happen until the Canon EF 17-40mm f/4.0L USM updates to an IS, Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM & Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L USM updates to a "Version II".

They are gonna L them, so if you like the current price, buy now! The 90 is fantastic, I can tell you that, extremely sharp lens.

yay, canon's new 90mm TS-E patent surfaces: http://www.canonrumors.com/2011/06/c...nts-this-week/
would be cool if they updated this lens (along with the 45) |

the mark ii of those lenses for sure would be in the 2K range if and when they come out. I would say get a nice used copy to use now and wait to see how good and how expensive the mark ii's will be, to make a change or not.

100 bucks 50mm 1.8 II is sharper than the 45 for example. The 90mm is a different story though. I'll wait for the new TS lenses and go 45mm if it is as good as the 24mm TS II. |

I'm still keeping one eye out for the new tse-90mm.
I am impressed with my current one more all the time. And I shoot stopped down alot and at f/16 it is the sharpest lens I own on my 5d2. Sharper than my 100L macro, for example. I love it. But if they improve it optically at all (maybe can improve it more wider open but stopped down it is hard to image) and more importantly to me give me independent shift and tilt, I would probably have a moment of weakness at some point and buy it. Going to be over 2K$ though. Last edited by Turning : 5th of January 2012 (Thu) at 00:43. |
