Tamron is well known for its 90mm f/2.5 macro lens, and without its accompanying lifesize adapter tube (1:1) the lens only manages 1:2 with its own internal focusing mechanism. 'Macro' more generally is often added to a lens designation if it manages 1:4, as macro truly refers to 1:5 and larger (up to about 16X) according to past well established macrophotography reknown vendors like Olympus.
