No, no assignments as far as individual players, not as far as I've ever heard. Just want you to get the best action, regardless of who it is. In the case of the Super Bowl, I know the head of photography for SI was on site in advance, scouting sight lines, etc., and the NFL also allowed them positions in the stands. Individual shooters are also different. Some guys move with the ball, some guys are stationary. There's no right way; I've missed good shots because I didn't move with the ball and I've missed good shots because I moved when I should have just stayed where I was.
