Canon-wise, my experience is limited to G5, 300D, 10D, 5Dc.

So, predictably, my worst would be the G5 and best the 5Dc.

From what I have read to be the general consensus, the worst appears to be the 7D and the best is either one of the 5D's or the 1D4.

From the screen-shots I've seen, however, I think the 1DX could blow all of them out of the water comprehensively.

Looking forward to seeing more samples from it and hearing people's opinions.

So basically, you want the old 20D sensor - same sensor density as the 5DM2 (providing the same 8MP as the 20D), but with digic V processor?
Wow....talk about re-introducing old tech! At least the processing and FPS should fly, eh!

OOOPS i didnt do the maths. Positively looking for higher MPs than that.

Best: 5D, absolutely creates such beautiful files SOOC. Better than, dare I say it, 5DMII.
Worst: 50D, had one for a a few months and sold it. Something about the way it unattractively renders files. I prefer my old Xsi (450D) to the 50D no doubt.

Worst sensor- Nikon CCD from the D1/D2 era.

Best- Canon 20/30D sensor. After 8 years, it still has noise performances that are at least as good as modern sensors, and slightly better dynamic range. Only lacking the resolution which is not as important as people think it is.

To me its kind of an odd question. There are so many other variables than just the sensor. My photo's are better now with my 5D2 than they were with my 40D, but I also use much better glass, my PP skills have increased a lot as has my experience. Sensors have improved with the rest of technology so the latest would be the greatest.

I had the same thought. How does anyone evaluate the sensor? It's not like you can swap them in and out of your camera with all other variables remaining the same.

My worst experienc came from the 7d. My 60d consistently produces better images. My 5d mark II is my favorite sensor to date.

Ive owned: Canon Ae-1, Rebel XT, 50d, 7d, 60d, 5d Mk2

DxO labs does it for you. All you have to do is look at the sensor list, see the cameras you have used and they have done the comparison.

For instance, if you have been lucky enough to have used the Phase One IQ180 Digital Back then you have shot with the best sensor out there at the present time. If you shot with the Panasonic DMC FZ28, then it's the worst not counting camera phones, P/S and such.

The same rating system that puts a Nikon 5100 above a 5D2.

'Nuff said.

Used or owned?

The best i have used is the Hasselblad V with a 39mp digital back. I realy want one but it's way out of my league. Very nice camera though.

The worst was the Mustek DV3000. I bought it for mo kids when they were small because they were so cheap. It worked, took pics and video but dang the quality sucked.

Since the OP specified Canon, this is pretty much irrelevant.

It rates the sensor, not the camera, features, or image quality. Read their rating technique. They are pretty up front with what the rating does.

In all honesty, you can't see the magic of a full frame sensor with graphs and numbers.
