My dog hates Cameras.

One of my dogs doesn't hate the camera, she loves it, as soon as she sees the camera out she starts walking/running towards it, which means she's too close very quickly, it's quite frustrating.

good training is all it needs, if food motivated, just treat it once he/she successfuly calm down. (or while saying calm down). But a lot of exposure is need tho.

my dog loves camera, would run to post for cameras. (typically, I would make the feeding noise if that makes sense, if i want her attention). So she doesn't mind it. you can also try let the dog sniff the camera a bit (be careful of possible damage, I usually don't let it touch it, and keep the camera close to you so that You can retrieve it fast enough).

the best practice for the puppies & babies is to shoot them in their natural positions .

My cat is impossible to photograph. The second she sees the camera, she feels a strong urge to investigate the lens.

The only thing I have found that works, is a telephoto (no less than 300mm.) and a massive amount of sneakiness.

Ditto, when not otherwise engaged our lab will come running over to investigate that weird black thing in front of masters face.
Still, while I haven't managed a better than decent shot of her yet I consider it reflex practice

Some of my best pictures of my golden have been when she's on a walk, perhaps try that, if you live in a snowy area of the world then winter shots in the snow of big labs and goldens can come out really well, and they're too busy on their walk to care about a camera, only thing I've found to work, just be careful with your light meter in all that snow, you want well exposed pictures!

All of mine actually like the camera, Benny, the white dog is quite the ham for a camera. If they're shy, associating food with the camera will make them more patient.
