i'v got hold of a 550 ex quite cheap and was planning on using it on my D600 thing is i was trying to set it up for the 2nd curtain flash mode and it don't seem to work?.
is it to old for my new D600?

Did you mean the 600D (Canon) rather than D600 (Nikon)? If 600D, did you set the 2nd curtain sync on the flash itself (that's where you need to set it).

On the 550ex, push the "+" and "-" buttons at the same time. Doing this twice will cycle from High Speed Sync and then Second-Curtain (icon with three arrows). Press them again to turn it off (go back to regular first curtain).

lol yeah sorry canon 600D i did try that klr.b but i'l give it another go i did get the symbol >>> come up on the right of the LCD but it's still not working just single flash

There are some catches...

Canon’s programming of 2SC requires certain settings:
• Can be in E-TTL or Manual flash modes
• Must be in a Creative mode
• Not in Multi (stroboscopic) or HS sync
• Shutter of 1/60th sec (1/30th 5D series) through to Bulb
• Not in Wireless mode (and therefore no group functions available)

Then there are environmental aspects to effective 2nd curtain shots.

Slow down the shutter speed to test. If you slow it down to 1s, or longer, you should be able to detect the delay.

i was hoping to get some nice lighting affects in a club been asked to do a few pic's for a d.j friend of mine if i cannot get it to work i'l just use it as standard and turn it off where i can.thanks for the help.;)
