5DX - Name confirmed

How exactly is this "confirmed"? Because some no-name website says it is?

I don't buy that the 7D is going away. It would be really dumb to bring out a camera body for one model with no revisions. Especially one as well received as the 7D is.

I don't doubt the existence of the 3D, (I've believe it's coming for a long time now).

OP, until names and specs are officially released by Canon, everything else is just a rumor. Even if the info is coming from Canons senior VP, sent to his Spanish video mates website, cause he's disgruntled that his boss stole his parking place, it's still just a rumor even if it does turn out to be correct.

If the 1DX is the amalgamation of the 1DS and the 1D why would Canon ever manufacture a new 1DS or 1D? It would defeat the purpose and undermine the sale of the 1DX.

If the 5DX is the amalgamation of the 5D and 7D why would we ever see a new 7D?

I hope I'm wrong.

The clearest thing to me right now, when you look at the images of the safari camera, and when you look at the CR3 specs, the 5DX is a new FF 7D. Similar button layout, action oriented, multipurpose camera, great video.

IF the 3D exists it will make Canon's lineup invincible with three FF cameras and it will serve as the true 1DS/5DII replacement. But where's the evidence of this camera? I want to see the evidence so so bad, because it's the camera I want to buy!

I think instead of releasing a 3D, the rumored CR3 camera should be the 7DII, and the 5DIII should be the uber MP landscape/portrait camera we're all dreaming of.

Lolz, I saw those today. They're totally fakes!!! Don't you see that someone obviously shopped the Mark III on there. And fixed the X after the 5D??!

I would rather have a 5DII with 7D AF and speed and improved high ISO. A 7D with more pickles would be less of a draw.

If these were images of a yet-to-be-released camera, information of which Canon has been VERY tight lipped about, why would they have ANY markings on them at all?

There is nothing here that proves the upcoming camera will not be called 5D X. This prototype, if it actually is real, may have been badged before the 1D X was even named. The marketing decision to go with the X moniker to unify the upcoming lines may have happened and the X badge will appear on the production body.

It could be that someone took a label maker and is having a bit of fun.

The 5DX is already proving to be a huge disappointment thus far, so it's shocking that the 5dXII will only be slightly better than the original 5DX. Canon is falling way behind fast...guess it's time to switch to Nikon...
