It's a big job...
The whole camera has to be taken apart, right back to the bare basics.
To disassemble, replace the shutter and reassemble and test takes around 5 hours.

yeah, I had a quick look online and went "stuff that!" :D

Finding out your 5D has mould on the sensor is devastating news dont even think of asking Canon to fix it ...A new 5D MK11 would be cheaper....
Selling the 5D with Mould on sensoe fully disclosed to the client for $350.00 is somew what compensation...

Been here in Sydney for three days and just wondering a couple of things...............

1) When does the rain stop ?

2) Do I take the S95 or 40D (choice of 24-70mm // 10-20mm // 70-200mm ) to the Mardi Gras on Saturday ?

I'd take the 40D and all 3 lenses.
No point having a dslr and a selection of lenses if you're not going to use them.

I'm hearing you...............

But what concerns me is that there are ten times the number of people at the Mardi Gras then there are at the John Martins (Credit Union ;) ) Christmas Pageant, and they're all adults, and they've spent all day "partying" prior to the parade.

Realistically, I don't think changing lenses during the parade is going to be an option, last time I went the crowd was about 5 drunken-adults deep !!

Definitely a time when I need something like a Thinktank Retrospective !!

Looking out of the hotel room window, it's still raining, and hasn't really stopped since I got here on Tuesday !!

Hoping it (at least) pauses for a couple of hours tomorrow night !!!

Cheers,

Austen.

Dam ..........Is full (or near enough !! )

March 2, 2012 - 9:34PM

AAP

The floodgates of Sydney's Warragamba Dam have opened for the first time in 14 years and put downstream communities on high alert.
:
The main drum gate opened at 7.30pm (AEDT), about 40 minutes after Sydney's drinking water reservoir reached full capacity.
:
Sydney Catchment Authority spokeswoman Debbie Low estimates that about 135,000 megalitres of water will be released from the dam a day as the floodgates remain open for the next few days.

Time for an Ikelite housing and a BCV? My condolences, although the weather here's been pretty miserable for winter - hardly any time below freezing so when we do get precipitation it's rain, and the flowers/trees are already blooming. Still, March often packs a real wallop so we may see real snow yet.

Hello everybody! It's been a while, but I just popped in to say hi.

You may remember me from such films as "lightpainting cars" and a short cameo in "lightpainting trucks". I am not working on the sequel, "lightpainting motorcycles".
