OK, I searched to see if this has been addressed before but no such luck.
It's something I've noticed since I've started photographing kids... they have orange noses! What the heck? Is there some kind of medical reason for this? You never see it on adults. A few samples. These are post but you can still see the yellowish orangish for sure. (Please don't judge me on these, I was just getting started. ) ![]() Yellow Nose 1 by Nae Saenz, on Flickr ![]() YN2 by Nae Saenz, on Flickr ![]() YN3 by Nae Saenz, on Flickr |

I'm not really seeing it, but it could be that they're all jacked up on Sunny D!
LOL. JK. I do know that a lot of babies in early development get jaundice a little sometimes? I could be wrong. |

LOL.... I'll dig later and see if I can find some SOOC shots that show it more.

It's common for babies just starting solid foods to have a diet high in beta carotene (sp?). Mashed carrots and sweet potatoes, etc.
Not much you can do about that other than learn how to post process the hue down locally, if you want.

HAHA Lucy, I find that direct flash really makes the condition worse. I usually use the clone stamp tool set to lighten blending mode and then go over the orange areas with a low low opacity until I get the hues I need. There is probably a lot better way to do it, but this is what works for me and is all I know.
As for why it happens, youve got me, but it bugs the heck out of me. |

Yes, that orange tip / front of the nose issue. I've seen it and dodge it out when necessary.

I just got to look at this for the first time on my home cmoputer (the images are blocked at work) and dont think the noses are too bad here. I have seen much much much worse. The second shot is adorable, orange nose or not.
