I would love to hear DR discussed. Do you perceive improvements? How does the focus system respond to back lighting? Have you experienced chasing yet? Do any lenses focus faster? I assume not, same battery of course, but if there is some magic that could make the 85 1.2 focus faster on the 5DIII that would be incredible.

From my experience using the 85 L on a 1D and 5Dc/5D II, the 5 series was significantly slower to focus. On a 1D it is noticeably snappier to lock. I'm hoping that the 5D III's new AF system will make the 85 L rock! ;)

Phew!! I always respect your opinion, so this is definitely good news for me.

Christian

I'm glad you spotted the irony!

Despite a few who seem determined to see negatives, for the work I do this looks to be a real upgrade, and I have seen nothing that makes me want to pull my order. Don't know when they'll reach NZ though!

If Julian was a REAL gentleman he would send me one so that I can review it for him!:p;)

Arrived in NZ today ;) Just need to clear customs and the other red tape, they're expected in-store by Friday :). Unfortunately we get Aussie's leftovers again, so no guarantees on available stock anywhere :(

Okay guys so for future reference. Order in the UK or Asia first and have a buddy ship it to you. You'll get it faster that way compare to the US release date.:D

If I can find a way to get paid by needing the outer focus points; under pressure/low-light conditions, I will join you guys/gals this summer... Until then the mkII will be my bread and butter.

Thank you all for posting your early returns under so much scrutiny. We all appreciate it.

Sub'd.
