Great shots of the loon, Mike. They are notorious for being tough to get close to, unless they pop up near your canoe or boat.

i was driving by the pond and he was just sitting there. this is a 100% crop. he wasn't to excited about me being there. Got about 20 good shots of him.

I think we should have the Bald Eagle as the state bird.theres a bunch back here....Besides. Im From California and Ive only been in MN for 5 yrs

You probably have in the winter when they go south to you they change colors

What part of the state are you in? In the north lake area they are everywhere.
Nice shots by the way I got a kayak over the winter just to get better shots of these guys

Elk River. Im about 10 miles from the sherbourn national wildlife refuge. Also have 6 eagle nests in my area. heading out this week to have some more fun. Eggs are hatched
