Hello everyone! My baby's first birthday and christening is coming up next month and Im in the process of creating invitations, and dont even know where to start (sort of).
Actually, me and my wife narrowed down the theme to hello kitty. My next problem is I dont know how to shoot my baby for the invitation,. Like, what attire should I get her for the pic, or no clothes at all with just a diaper and a head bow/ribbon only. And also I dont know what would be the best BG, i.e., seamless gray or just plain white so I can easily replace the BG to BG templates? Or should I just shoot her with a nice BG with flowers, park, beach, etc,.. Another problem is paper,. I dont know where to get, and I dont have an idea which one will look nice for prints. Theres metallic, gloss, matte, semi-gloss and etc. I know the difference between the textures, but what I want to know which is more appropriate. I did however googled for samples, but still having a hard time. Im just thinking if I can do it myself, then I dont have to pay for someone to make invitation for my baby. I think you are over complicating it. Keep it simple. Take a cute picture of her at the beach use some nice props.
Use the paper below is a nice linen: http://www.redrivercatalog.com/browse/linenintro.htm Have fun !!!

I think sub-forums/threads are less popular compared to sharing photo sections that's why this thread don't get enough replies.
I guess we're on our own |

I second the over complication observation. Wife had around 40 000 shots of my son to choose from by the time his 1st birthday came around (without exaggeration). If your going to do a special shoot just for the invite pic then I would just aim to get a shot that you think captures him/her the best. Could be a tub shot, with toys portrait, playing at the park shot. Just aim for something adorable - I am sure no one invited will be as critical as the photographer.

Sub forums are tough for responses. I think whatever you do will be cute.
Cake smash pictures are always fun for a 1st bday invite. If you don't have a studio or many bg options you could always buy a piece of fabric for the bg (just choose a simple print) and grab some laminate flooring to make a wood floor prop. For the invites themselves either order from your favorite lab or what I do (when I'm being cheap) is order 5x7 prints from Sam's club (similar to Costco I think) and put cardstock on the back with the party details. There are also tons of cute invitation sites out there if you don't want to create your own. Hope that helps. Don't let it stress you. It's just for fun.

Cute pic and daughter illrooster132!
Thanks everyone for inputs. I guess you guys are right! Im just gonna try a cupcake smash, on white BG, on her diaper and a head bow/ribbon. Ill just paste the picture to a invitation template and print it somewhere. Ok, two questions left. LOL 1. Where to print locally that will accept custom paper? (kinkos, costco, staples, office depot etc?) 2. What paper texture? (im thinking metallic or linen texture as recommended in here) |
