Default Suggestions for posing

In a few weeks, I'm going to be taking posed shots of two astonishingly athletic people - my kickboxing coach and a classmate who's a cheerleader. He wants pics for his client album and she's happy to help out and get pics of her new svelte body. We have a nearby park, and evening light in Ft. Lauderdale is pretty and lasts for more than 5 minutes.

I have a softbox, an umbrella, a 580, a 430, and am shooting w/ a 7d.

Where would I go for ideas about dynamic poses, exciting action shots, and setups for how to express how a) athletic, b) attractive and c) joyful these two friends are? Props including cheerleader gear, kung fu weaponry, and standard kickboxing gear can be in play.

Thanks

Not specific to cheer and karate, but if you need some inspiration, you might want to peruse the galleries of Walter Iooss.

Wow. That work paints a bright line between my GWAC junk and truly professional work.

Impressive.

Don't feel inadequate, Walter Iooss is one of, if not the greatest, sports photographers on the planet. 300+ Sports Illustrated Covers. I look through his galleries almost weekly, truly inspiring.

This guy is an amateur. I mean, you would think someone with over 300 SI covers and several Swimsuit Edition gigs, would know not to chop off toes in a picture. Pssst, that's called sarcasm.

Tell that to his paychecks

But really, once you make a name for yourself, even "crappy" photos that you produce will be liked and considered great stuff by normal people

I'm sure Walter Iooss has chimped a few shots from time to time, but I seriously doubt that he has produced a truly "crappy" image in decades. Certainly none that have made it to publication. As far as cropping off toes, I'm betting the toes were in the original image, but were lost in the editorial process. Just an educated guess.
