Default Tripod on the Flightline?

I've signed up for the Friday a.m. photo tour for Shaw Air Expo 2012 this weekend. Never done this before. We'll have two hours on the ramp with the statics from 8:00 - 10:00. Do I take my tripod? Any opinions appreciated!

For early morning or late evening statics, absolutely yes...

If you get cloud cover and want to avoid having to rely on high ISO, your tripod and timer or shutter release are your friend!

Tripods are also handy for beating back the late-arriving fence huggers who try to muscle you off the spot you've held for the preceding 4-6 hours!

It might help you set a slow shutter speed to blur all the other participants walking around and keep the subject aircraft nice and sharp.

Everyone except the other photographers with tripods who are shooting at really slow shutter speeds...

Lol. I'm fortunate to have a wife that tolerates coming along with me. Don't tell her I said this but, it's like having a pitbull protecting your spot.

Take the tripod.

Lol. Thanks, John. Probably will take it for the airshow on Saturday/Sunday - less expensive than taking my pitbull.

I'm taking one this year on the ramp with me. I know where I can stash it when I'm not using it

From my first experience on the ramp last year I discovered that 1) it wasn't something that would get in the way and 2) I definitely had time to use it when setting up a shot for even an aircraft taxiing in or out.
