What type of focus screen do you use for concert photography? I am having slight problems with some of my compositions using the default focus screen on the 5D MKII

What types of problems do you have?
I use the standard screen in my 1D3. However, I would like to find one that shows the crops for 5x7 and/or 4x5 so that I know where the edge of the print will be. I also find a grid handy. Use the lines in the viewfinder to line up with the horizontals or verticals.

I am trying to get some musicians into the "rule of thirds" so I can better "break it", I feel that I am weak in that area

Musicians play "Circles of Fifths" [or do they drink them?!?].
::rimshot:: I think the 5d2 is more difficult in that area, because the thirds that you want to focus on do not have the red focus pips. I would think you'd want your focal point to be at the intersection of the imaginary horizontal line from the top or bottom focus pip and the imaginary vertical line from the left- or right-most focus pips. That's trying to focus on a place that you can't get the assist from.

If lens is faster than f/3.5, Eg-S focus screen will be brighter...

Its nothing to do with brightness, its something to do with the rule of thirds etc.....

Would a focus screen with rule-of-thirds lines etched on it help? Or is the problem getting focus with subjects outside AF point matrix? |

The Eg-D screen has etched lines, they aren't in thirds, however the lines do provide a reference after noting where the lines are drawn in relation to thirds areas. I use it sometimes.
