Default Canon EOS Digital Rebel 300 - CF Error

I just got this camera and I bought a CF to SDHC/SD adapter. Which means I can put an SD card in my CF camera. If I put an SD card in it and load it into the camera, it says CF Error. So I format the card and try to load it, it says Error 99. Should I try an SDHC card? Please help.

I echo what conbu suggested. Use a true CF card. You probably can find some 1Gb CF on Craigslist at cheap price.

I've tried a CF card. It came with one. But I want to use the SD slot in the side of my laptop.

My apologies if that sounded rude. I couldn't think of another way to word it.

No worries...i'm assuming (there's that word again!!), the cf card worked? If so the prob is with your adapter...how about a usb card reader that you can plug into the computer...has both slots...lots of brands and price ranges out there. Anyhow...best of luck, hope you get it fixed. Take care, Steve B.

This is my current situation. SD card in CF adapter, in USB. Works on my computer, but not on my camera.

I'm no IT geek...but your old 300 camera may not be compatible with the newer cards or the usb 2.0 device? If you have someone with a newer camera try the combinatin for the heck of it....might answer the problem and won't cost you anything other than coffee for a pal!
Good luck, Steve b.

I'm still using a 300D and it works fine with modern CF cards. As I have serious issues with reliablity of SD cards I would not consider using an adaptor. I see no reason to complain when an attempt to make something that was not desigend to work together fails. The camera was desigend to work with CF not SD/SDHC/SDXC or anything else.

Yep, what your doing is just asking for problems to occur.
Just use a CF card and be done with it.

I echo what philwillmedia says that in the long run you are asking for repeat problems; having said that, did you do a low level format of the card in the camera prior to use?
