I wish I could get that dark spot out of the right corner. There was a branch there.

Anyone here familiar with Shaw Nature Reserve? I have a senior shoot there soon. Actually, it was supposed to be yesterday, but the rain caused issues. I've picked up a map, but the location is so large it is overwhelming! I do intend to visit the boardwalk...curious to see if anyone has some favorite spots there.

Also, anyone hitting up the Botanical Gardens for the Lantern Festival? Looks amazing!

Lindsay,

My mom actually used to Volunteer there, weed-eating trails and such, She might be able to help out.

She's up at the Lake until tomorrow with some or her brothers/sisters. But if you'ld like, I can see if she would call you sometime and give you any tips on locations there.

Actually, i just sent her a text to see if she would even call you or vise versa....

I'll PM you her phone number.

I am going to the Lantern Festival probably next weekend, as I'll be out of town this weekend. My wife and mother are there as we speak for the opening reception. My wife is texting me telling me how awesome it is. I want to attend late afternoon into evening for sure.

I'm going to go, definitely towards the evening, but I'll probably wait until the crowds die down...that is, if they ever do.

Another question for you locals...anyone know where you can find a pop-up changing tent locally? Ones that don't require poles, much like a collapsible reflector...I've found plenty online but cannot find one to pick up around STL.

Do you plan on changing clothes at the festival?

I am also going to hit the BG in June for the lotus flowers in early morning light.

I'm surprised CC camera doesn't have one. They're practically a megastore.

I was just there Saturday (picked up a 7D!) and didn't see any. Though, I didn't ask anyone, either. Perhaps I'll check again. Thanks!

Lindsay, are you still in the STL? If so, run over to MoBot tomorrow, when it's free to get in, and go into the Linnean House. There is a very rare flower blooming in there that only blooms for 3-5 days. Of all the flowers of this type being cultivated in the world, only 130 blooms have been recorded in 120 years! Supposedly, peak bloom was today or tomorrow. I know you love MoBot and thought you'd like to know this.

Here is there link from Facebook... http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?s...2821133&type=1

Chip

edit: Didn't read backposts. However, to anyone, if you wait for the weekend (planning to see the lanterns), you may miss the bloom.....if interested.

Straightening...lol. Every time I straighten the horizon, I hang the picture crooked.

YES! I have been watching the bloom progress on FB, too. I'm hoping to drop by there to photograph it either Saturday or on Sunday.
