Default A jumping spider, money spider and a fly...

walk into a bar... well not really but I got a picture of them.

Really pleased with this jumping spider one, I have been hoping to get one like this for so long and it has happened. Over the moon

Like them all, well done.

It's great to get a new species, and jumpers are great subjects.

I love jumpers so finding one is great and then getting a picture I like is even better, I don't know if you can help me with this but when ever I take photos of things the background is usually black, does this mean it isn't getting exposed? How can I get it to be exposed?

I am probably the worst person to give advice (I only just started pointing the lens in the right direction.

I assume you are using a flash, in which case the exposure is usually set up so the area lit up by thew flash is exposed correctly. As backgrounds tend not to get much light from the flash, they are pretty well lit by the ambient light, so with fast shutter times the backgrounds can easily be well underexposed.

Possible fixes? If you use slower shutter speed and lower power on the flash, you can lessen the effect, or light the background. Hopefully someone will help with better advice.

Okay, cheers. I will have a try tomorrow as the house is blocking the sun in the garden and not much is out.
