Default 1st Attempt: Milky Way, Pyramid Lake Nevada

First attempt photographing the milky way out in the dark skies of Nevada, Pyramid Lake. Planning on going back later this month when it's completely dark. C&C and comment are welcomed

yea, the 20th should be the darkest day of the week.

I have heard people using some stacking techniques to get more details... but I don't know how... hopefully someone will direct us to the right direction

Thanks

Nice but looks like a bit more time exp. would've helped get some more detail.

My 4x5 has hundreds of megapixels, at the expense of low FPS and zero autofocus points.

looks like you missed focus. Use LiveView if you have it (focus on something bright but far away) and keep the focus in Manual. The Infinity mark on the lens (even 'L' glass) is not exact...

Thanks for the advice..I was having a hard time to get a good enough focused shot through the view finder, messing around with slightly different spots on the infinity marker. Never thought of using the LiveView!

check and see if your Liveview has the zoom option, 2 clicks to max zoom on the 5DM2, is a huge help, too.
