Probably the sharpest Canon lens I've shot with. At least as sharp as the 300 2.8 and the 400 2.8. These three are the sharpest in the Canon line up. The 200 2L is insanely sharp wide open.

It's unbelievable. The first photo in your last sample, her eyes are razor sharp.

but bokeh, like with my 300L2.8 is no so creamy with TCs
I would say, that's the main point that makes me leave at home the TC1.4XII and TC2XII ..I mostly use them to shoot far landscape or even the moon. But no more when subject is near and background busy.

To some extent I agree with you, the main reason why I did ask for TC combinations with this lens is I'm trying not to take out a second mortgage on my home to buy a myriad of white super telephotos . In my mind having this with a tcon/s will be more than sufficient (for the meantime) for those 10% times I need to reach the 280mm and maybe 400mm @f4 with IS mark.

I am quite impressed. There's a sequence they should be stacked right? Was A/F still good outside of center or was it all center point?

Yes, I can't recall exactly but there is a sequence how they are stacked.

The AF is pretty slow when both extenders are stacked. However, they are pretty fast and responsive when attached one at a time. I think the outer points AF worked just fine, although I mainly used center point on my 1DIV.
