A kid that I know is a professional child actor. He is signed with an agency and has been in a couples films. He just recently asked me if I could do head-shots for his next comp card, and he even said that he would recommend me to his other friends that he has in the business. Being a fairly new high school photographer, I figured it would be a great way to get my foot in the door, and hopefully if I am any good, I could have a nice little side business doing head-shots when I am older.
I was wondering if any of you had done head-shots, and if you have, to please lend me some advice on how to shoot good ones, or even as far as how you connect with the kid, because I know it is much more fun and easier to shoot if you both are comfortable with each other. All advice is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance.

The short answer.. Find everything Peter Hurley has put on the web. He is the current goto headshot guy. He teaches more in concepts than hard info so you may have to watch things more than once.

Yes Peter Hurley is like the God of headshot photography, I shoot modeling headshots and picked up a lot of pointers from him over the years.

I watched that 2 hours video. I learned so much. I'm hoping to go to his weekend long head-shot class.

I want to go to that as well. But at $1500 its kinda hard to justify it to the wife.
