On a day off of flying in the interior of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, I went out to see some bonobo's, considered the closest genetic match to humans. Far more peaceful than their chimpanzee counterparts, we also had something in common. Bonobos love sex although they seem to get far more action than I do. Just a couple from todays trip. C&C welcome. Lower res because I don't have a hosting site and we are seriously restricted in our bandwidth on the satellite connection. Top photo with 5DMII, 70-200mm at 200mm, 1/320, f2.8 ISO 250. Second photo 5DMII with 100mm Macro IS, 1/500, f2.8, ISO 250. Unedited, uncropped.

Both great, but I LOVE number 2. Would love to see some more when you have the bandwidth available!

Many thanks for the comments. Being in the bush has it's benefits but easy and cheap internet isn't one of them.

Amazing photos.
There are a lot of photos that show animals and critters looking towards the camera, but in your second photo it feels like he's looking directly at 'ME'. ... maybe it's the subject and it's close resemblance to humans. Really awesome. Thanks so much for sharing. Mike |

Another one. This might not belong in this forum. Maybe on some animal xxx site. Bonobo's settle conflict with sex even if you happen to be the same gender. The receiving bonobo had his banana stolen then got "pleasured".

Fantastic shots. Finding it tough to choose my favorite of the two, but think I will go with the first...

I like the behavioral xxx shot, haha. I've heard that bonobos will often pleasure themselves as a means to relieve stress. But a male giving it to another male after stealing its banana? That's like a gunman robbing a bank and then "giving it" to the male teller afterwards! Must be a dominance thing.
